Hey Terra!
What's up? Our beach trip yesterday was awesome! The thing with the box of whales is Erica eating crackers on the way to Pizza Hut hehe. Me and Lizzie are clams! LOL! Even thought it says so, we're not helping reclam the bay haha. Anyway the house is just a random house where we parked. I took a pic because I thought it was a really cute house. Like Barbie's Dream House lol. It's much cuter in person, the camera washed out some of the colors. We went to LBI and they had this cute little town filled with shops and stuffs. At one shop, Lizzie got her ears pierced. They look so good! The beach was fun. The water was SOOOOO clear it was amazing! If the sand was white, it could be a tropical island, except for the freezing cold water. Then we had stuffed crust pizza that is amazing. Do you have pizza there? Next we went into Lizzie's, Grandma's lake. It was really fun up until these bugs kept attacking us. I know you have protection during the night, but do you where bug spray during the day? Breaking Dawn releases the day after tomorrow and I am so excited! I'll put up some pics. I can't wait to read the book!! Do you have a book store there? Then on Sunday I'm going to Virginia. Are you going on anymore vacations? Woah! I am so sorry! I didn't realize I wrote this much. I was telling the story and the next thing I knew I practically filled up the blog. The beach trip sounds like so much fun! I miss going to the beach so much. We do have pizza here but it's nothing compared to NJ pizza! We don't where bug sprat during the day because the mosquitoes aren't out then and we don't really go out at night when they do come out so we don't have to. I don't think we have a book store here but I'm not sure. If I want a certain book to read I go to my school library and see if they have it when school is in session. Our mission team has arrived today and so I'll be going around with them to different villages and stuff but you can't really call that a vacation. As far as I know I'm not going on any vacations soon. I miss you too!!!

Hey Terra,
So far I'm having an awesome summer! On Tuesday my family and I went to the Adventure Aquarium in Camden together since my dad has been taking a lot of days off. There were many tropical fish, seahorses, birds, and penguins!!!! I included two pictures of marine life from the aquarium, a leopard fish and a beautiful angel fish. I thought of you swimming in Malawi when we saw the tropical fish. There were also jellyfish with lacy tentacle-like things dangling from them, they were amazing! When you go to your beaches, do you have to worry about poisonous octupi or jellyfish? I hope not! Yesterday, my parents took us to Point Pleasant beach to enjoy the hot, yet breezy day. We had hoagies and went "shell hunting". A girl and a boy helped us find shells, they were HUGE! The water was actually clear so it made shell hunting very easy and enjoyable. After lunch, my dad took me out super far in the ocean to ride the waves. I was so afraid because I couldn't touch the bottom, I thought a wave would wipe me out but I think I did a pretty good job of riding the waves. However, when we were trying to get out of the water, a huge wave crashed on us and we were tossed around underwater. I landed hard on something soft and it turned out that I landed on my dad's shoulder! He was complaining and thought he had broke his shoulder, but he's fine. Afterwards, we dug this really deep hole and caught water in it when the tide would come up high so it was kind of like a pool. I'd have to say that the day was the best beach day ever! Today we went bowling, I don't have any pictures for you because I forgot my camera at home. My mom and dad had the two high scores of both games. It was a lot of fun! I think that it was harder because we were so used to Wii Bowling instead of real life bowling. Anyway, when you come back you have to come bowling with us, it was a blast! I miss you so much Terra! By the way, Terra, I had a few questions for you... Will you or your mom be sewing the custom clothes or will a seamstress? That sounds cool! At your school do they teach classes like Home Economics where they teach sewing? Also, you said you had to take swim lessons, do you have to take them everyday all year and is it in the beginning or ending of school? I wish they had a pool at our school? :) Do you have any other trips planned before the upcoming school year? Your trips sound like a lot of fun- once in a lifetime opportunities! We're getting a stream stress to make our clothes but I got to tell her what kind of style I wanted like how long I wanted the skirt, I wanted 3/4 length sleeves, a v-neck, etc. so that was cool. I don't think they teach Home Economics at my school and if they do it's only for the older grades. We have to take clubs after school and I think there might be a sewing club but I'm not sure. We have 3 terms in our school. The first term starts in September and goes until early December. In the first term it's swimming season so that's really only when we do swimming so it'll be my first time since I wasn't there for the first term before! I'm very nervous cause I don't really know any of the strokes but I guess I'll just learn. Right now we don't have any other trips planned because we're very busy with our mission team from our church coming and they're arriving today! My favorite part of the year was definitely the beginning back in Allentown but since I have no idea where to go here on the first day it'll be very nerve racking. Miss you!!

We are in a landlocked country (not on the coast) so no we don't have a beach on the ocean but we have beaches on Lake Malawi so we go swimming there and stuff. Miss you too!

We have two airports in Malawi actually (That's how we got from South Africa up to Malawi) There is one in Blantyre, the city that I'm in, and there's one in Lilongwe, the capital. We have a shopping center that has a Shoprite, Game (wal mart), fast food places, little shops and stuff so we go to Shoprite and Game to get our food but we go to the market to get fresh fruit. The market is just local people at stands selling fresh produce. I miss you!

i miss you so much!!! thanks for that e-mail, it took forever to read! i have a question,(obviously)in the e-mail you told me about how close you got to the wild animals....do u like go on safari's and stuff? or do you just like drive your car into the wild and just see them right there? that is so cool, the closest thing i have to wild animals is the great adventure safari, and i haven't even been on the safari this year!! the next time i go i have to go on kingda ka. me and my friend julia were supposed to go this today, and i was gonna do it, but oh well. ima glad that you got the postcard, and that you like the yearbook, u r gonna love the present we got you at the mall!!!!!!!!!!! it is so you. are the ppl at your school like act all rich and snobby? that is how they are here. i am sorta dreading going back cus of all the primidanna's. it's all about the clothes you have. ugh gag me! well i got to go, this is getting ridiculously long lots of llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

We went on a safari for this trip to see the animals and stayed at a camp that had people in big safari trucks that would drive us around the national park. If we had gone by ourselves to the park then we would have had to pay an entry fee and find a place to sleep. Some of the people at my school are very wealthy but everyone is wealthy compared to the locals since we live in one of the poorest countries in the world. People don't really brag about their wealth or at least the people I hang out with. I can't wait to get the present! Thank you so much!

Hey there Terra! I have me a question! Do people there have parties often? Do you go to parties there? I'm asking because there is a party for the release of the last Stephenie Meyer book, Breaking Dawn. It's gonna be awesome!! There's a costume contest, and I think I'll have a pretty good chance of winning, because my costume is pretty awesome!! Not that I'm boasting or anything (yes I am haha). Even if I don't win, I know one of us will because me, Erica, Lizzie, and Julie have awesome costumes planned! It's gonna be so much fun. I'm just going for a good time. Oh! There are some kids who are like that in my school but it's a lot less because we have to wear uniforms and so people don't make fun of your clothes or are getting the newest things. I actually like wearing a uniform more than just wearing regular clothes because it's so easy just to wear the same thing and be the same as everyone else.

Hi Terra! I just got back from Lake Placid. Sorry I haven't typed anything in a while. I know Lizzie is going to have a pen pal, do you think anyone would be interested in being pen pals with me? Anyway, I went to New York City today, which is kind of funny because I just spent 5 days in upstate New York in Lake Placid. Gas prices are ridiculous down-oops I mean "up"- there!!! We had to pay like $4.50 a gallon!
Sorry, where was I... Oh yeah. So I went to New York City with my mom and my sister and her godmother for my sister's birthday. It was really fun and we went in this huge candy store and this huge toy store. I ate about 2 pounds of candy and my mom was really mad that I ate all the candy she bought me in an hour. The only bad part was that Tara got sick, and she still is. She has this terrible headache and I feel so bad for her. My mom gets bad migraines if she doesn't take medication and I hope Tara doesn't start having migraines because that would be really bad.

Well my bedroom is painted a really light yellow. It doesn't look good at all. I have a double bed, a wardrobe, a desk, a fireplace, and a bookshelf. Right now I'm sharing my bed with my little sister because since my brother got here he took Jordan's bed so she had to come sleep with me but when my older sister leaves in about 2 weeks Clay will move into Jem's room and Jordan will go back into her own room! It also has doors, that have windows on it, that lead out into a little porch and then another little window on the side. I also have african paintings that I've bought as gifts but right now they're hanging in my room. I'm not sure how to beat infinite oodles of love......

No, unfortunately we don't have a t.v. or radio so we're living pretty simply but I didn't watch much t.v. anyway but in N.J. We watch a lot of movies though so we just use my dad's lap top. We don't have a newspaper delivered but there are always people on the side of the street selling newspaper so my dad always gets one. ALSO, WHAT PERCENTAGE OF PEOPLE DO YOU THINK SPEAK ANOTHER OR DIFFERENT LANGUAGE THAN ENGLISH? I THINK IT'S REALLY COOL TO SPEAK A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE BECAUSE IT GIVES YOU THE CHANCE TO BE BILINGUAL.

We take French in school which I think is really stupid because they don't teach Chichewa which is what the local people speak and most of the kids have grown up here all their life. But anyway the language classes here are really good and we actually learn stuff. I can speak a tiny bit of french and if I stayed here longer I would probably get really good at it. Most of the kids are also from different countries around the world since it's an international school so most of them know English and another language. One of my friends is Greek so she speaks it fluently and her parents don't speak good English so she learned English by speaking with other kids and watching Disney movies! I would say about 95% speak another/different language than English so it's really high. I almost feel stupid around all the people at my school because I can only speak English! Well this is getting really long so I'll stop now!

I will definitely give your email to one of my friends! Since we're on summer break a lot of them are away so it could be a while until I see them but when I do see one of them I'll give it to them. My two closest friends I'll probably give it too. One of them is actually the one that is coming to visit so it will be great for her when she comes over to meet the person that she's been emailing. The only problem is that she says she's not very good in keeping in touch but I'll try to convince her to do it! :) My parents both have cellphones here but they aren't for long distances so we can't call anyone in the U.S.A. Hey Terra!
My mom came into the house today and said she thought of your mom because she saw a Monarch butterfly laying eggs on our milkweed (my mom says to say hello). She wanted me to ask you what the butterflies and moths look like in Malawi and if you have ever seen any caterpillars (she said you don't want to touch the ones with hairs/spines! - she said there is a species in Africa that has poison in its spines that is strong enough to kill an adult). I'll e-mail photos of the caterpillars and butterflies when I take them. Oh and we saw a really cool commercial on VH1 where a guy is dressed up in a HUGE mosquito costume bothering people in an office. At the end of the commercial they state that "in the US, mosquitoes are a nuisance but in Africa they carry malaria and are deadly". It's a commercial for donations for mosquito nets ..... www.nothingbutnets.net . I thought you might like to check it out. Also, if you could e-mail me your mailing address for your surprise package that would be great! ;) Ttyl!

In my school everyone speaks English and there's probably about 100 or so kids in each grade. In the local public schools I think they teach in English but I'm not sure although I don't know many kids who go there. In the villages though almost nobody speaks English and if they do then it's not very good. So it's hard to tell how many kids speak English cause I know so many but I hope that answers your question a bit.

Ya, I do have to sleep with a mosquito net. I don't really mind it because I like to try and remind myself that cockroaches can't get in at night. (We have cockroaches in our house and I'm TERRIFIED of them) So I use them as protection but they're really used to keep mosquitoes out. :)

There are lots of holidays that aren't celebrated in the US that they have here for example: John Chilembwe Day which celebrates the guy that fought for independence in Malawi, Freedom Day which celebrates when Malawi came from a dictatorship to democracy. July 6th is Malawi's independence day and Malawi won it's freedom from Britain.

Hey Terra! I also just got guppies! That's kinda funny. Their names are Dave, Ned, Rex, and Octavius. I know, really weird names. Weird names from a weird mind, ha ha. Anyway, I'm going to the Breaking Dawn release too. I'm so glad I told everyone about these books, they seem to really enjoy them. I guess that's why a whole bunch of us are going dressed up as a group. I'll take pictures so you can see obsessed fans in costumes. Our friends have all made plans and we're going in a crazy group dressed as freaks. We're gonna rock the costume contest! Speaking of "friend groups" what do you and your friends do for fun? There's a party for the release of Breaking Dawn that I'm going to. You can dress up as a character and I'm dressing up as Bella! I decided to go wearing her prom dress. I've already got it too!
